Practical Steps In The Choice Of A Life Partner - 1 By Brother Gbile Akani

Hello people!

This is an awesome video! Just let it play and do whatever you need to do. Watch and be blessed! It's really good, I promise. And if you really don't have the time, you can book mark it for later while you read the notes I took of it...but watch it :(. It doesn't look fancy or anything, but it's good.

Psalm 32:8

New Living Translation (NLT)
8 The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life.
I will advise you and watch over you.

Proverbs 18:22

New Living Translation (NLT)
22 The man who finds a wife finds a treasure,
and he receives favor from the Lord.

Proverbs 19:14

New Living Translation (NLT)
14 Fathers can give their sons an inheritance of houses and wealth,
but only the Lord can give an understanding wife.

God instituted marriage
Genesis 2:18
New Living Translation (NLT)
18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”
- You, as a woman, don't fit everyone. It's just one size you've been made to fit. A help to suit one person's needs.
- Wearing an undersized shoe- blisters everywhere. There's a size for you, wait on God to bring a size that fits. How can you run with an oversize or undersized shoe? With shoes, you'll probably prefer to walk barefooted and carry your shoes in your hand. You can't remove marriage, and if you somehow do, you'll still carry it in your hands
- When God has not yet seen it that it's not good for you to be alone, then it means it's still good for you to be alone. When it's not good for you to be together is when you're in an untimely courtship.
- You've got to hear God first. He has time for everyone of us. It's only when he sees that it' s not good for man to be alone, that he provides the help he needs.
- Some of the people you are seeing now, are just "mists". They are the only things visible in your environment atm, so of course you're seeing them. So you think, this is all I can see, lemme grab them...and then you run into  trouble cuz you grab mist? They might really be meant to pass.
- Sometimes God wants you to walk alone, create in you virtues and values meant for your future. And anyone else in your life at this time would destroy it.
- It's important to let God say " it is not good for you to be alone". Your age doesn't matter.
- Sometimes the liberty of campus,  association with people, people expressing their feelings, etc could cause confusion and you may be having movements in your heart. Don't let your heart move if God has not moved in it.

Ephesians 2:10

New Living Translation (NLT)
10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
- God has some definite work he wants you to achieve. It's for that purpose you need a help. Marriage is just not a flimsy relationship. It's not necessary to run into a relationship when you don't know where you are going.
- Woman, If you're a help meet for someone who is doing nothing in his life, what are you doing? Nothing.
- If you're greatly endowed with gifts of the spirit and these graces are made to fufil God's
- Ask, what is he meant to achieve in life that I'm supposed to help with? Questions to be asked (to him/God) before saying yes
- It is God who makes a man or woman for you. Not a readymade piece you just pick, He makes her to suit you, cuz only He has the dimensions for your life. He knows your elastic limit, knows how far you will get, and makes a woman with equal 'elastic coefficient'. So that as you're growing, she's growing. No one's left slacking. At every time, it's fitting. It fits now, it'll fit in 20years.
- Many people think of just 'the now'. So one person is growing the other is still small, and there comes the 'irreconcilable differences'. God looks at your future, all the thigns that will happen. He put all the potential you'll need along the way in that woman. It might not be visible now, but it's in her and will be shown when the time comes.
- The reason why God needs to make this choice for you is this. He makes a tailor made partner for you- someone who will fit you at every point in your life. It's not a random pick. If she fits today, she might not fit tomorrow and vice versa.
- Hold up, she might not always be fine. He might not always be "anointed"
Genesis 2:20-21- There was a lot of searching. God searched among all the animals before he
Jeremiah 29:11- God knows His plans for you. The issue is the future.IF we were marrying for the now, then sure pick. But if you want the lasting kind, the kind where GOd's glory still shines through

Psalm 37:1-7

New Living Translation (NLT)

Psalm 37[a]

A psalm of David.

Don’t worry about the wicked
or envy those who do wrong.
For like grass, they soon fade away.
Like spring flowers, they soon wither.
Trust in the Lord and do good.
Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.
Commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust him, and he will help you.
He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn,
and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun.
Be still in the presence of the Lord,
and wait patiently for him to act.
Don’t worry about evil people who prosper
or fret about their wicked schemes.
GUIDELINES
1)  Rest- Take a chill pill and rest in God's loving kindness over our lives. God needs liberty to work in your life. Think of it as anesthesia before surgery. It's only because you're sleeping that your intestines can be taken out and packed back w/o your interference.
You're using some wisdom to guide God's hands in the direction you're looking. You've got to totally surrender.
- Stop being worried and anxious
****Watch Out For Part two*** (lol! Seriously though)

Acknowledging Privilege

You know one thing that comes with looking at old things with new eyes? Interesting discoveries!   For those of you who do not know, I have been in Nigeria for thirteen days and I will be here till the end of the year. So, I’m writing about what it feels like to go back home after half a decade. I already said in my last post that everything seems familiar except that it isn’t. And by that I meant that I’m now noticing things that have probably always been there, but had managed to go unnoticed. Every time I notice something, I wonder if I'm thinking and acting like a foreigner in my own motherland. It's a weird feeling. But it is what it is; I've been out of touch.  Let's move to today's story. One night last week, Oye knocked on my door because she had been sent to get something called a “ruler”.  Oye is the amazing maid, who really has been my right hand person. She's been helping me relearn the art of crossing Lagos streets, perfecting my haggli

The Ontario Christian and 2015 sex-ed changes

I don’t know if it’s too many classes in sociology of religion, human sexuality, and the likes of these that have made my opinions significantly different from friends with whom I share other opinions. But since I am yet to find a ground comfortable enough for my Jesus loving self and freedom of expression celebrating side to stand, I write. One of our pastors was /is pretty furious at the recent changes to Ontario’s sex education laws. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, let’s take a moment to update you . When it finally loads, please scroll down to view the juice of it. Now that you get the idea, my question to my friends has been what makes this wrong from a non-Christian POV? Given that the entire population is not Christian, why would you expect the laws not to favor the non-Christians as well? If you absolutely detest homosexuality as a religious command and have a religious responsibility to train up your child in the way of God, I expect that you would teach y

Hey Lil Troublemaker.

Photo credit:  looseends  via  Foter.com  /  CC BY-NC-SA Freezing as usual. I've gone through today's edition of "school sucks, especially in the Winter". I have a midterm anyway, so there's no way around school today. No point whining. There's a 3-minute bus for the 7minute walk I have to make to my next class.  When the roads are icy and slippery (like today) and man's greatest fear is becoming 'Humpty-Dumty the second', that walk becomes more10-ish minutes. So, of course I'll take the bus! *Whew!*. I made the bus.  To calm my raging nerves - because I'm pretty tensed about my Stats midterm - I read the cover page of Metro newspaper. The story I first see is something about wheelchairs not getting priority over strollers. Lol? Who wouldn't know that? On second thought, it wouldn't be on the front page of the paper if something hadn't happened. Apparently, some bus driver had told someone with a toddler to get off t
